Kiran Javkar is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Computer Science and advised by Prof. Mihai Pop. His research is conducted jointly with the US FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), through UMD JIFSAN, under the supervision of Dr. Hugh Rand and Dr. Errol Strain. His research interests include different areas of computational biology with a particular emphasis on using genomics and metagenomics for antimicrobial resistance and pathogen detection.
