Probing Higgs oscillations across the BEC-BCS Crossover in a Cavity-QED Quantum simulator

Abstract

Understanding nonequilibrium pairing dynamics is a central problem in quantum many-body physics. Here we study weak- and strong-pairing regimes using a cold-atom cavity-QED simulator of fermionic superfluids based on Anderson pseudospins. Following a quench, we observe persistent pairing and collective amplitude (Higgs) oscillations of the order parameter. We find that the decay of these oscillations differs markedly between the two pairing regimes and agrees with theoretical predictions. These results establish cavity-QED systems as a powerful platform for studying far-from-equilibrium many-body pairing phenomena, with future directions including transport, Josephson dynamics, and unconventional pairing.
